An unpleasant wake-up at night 10.10.2018 - Tarmo (Do Day's Neville) had his second epileptic seizure which was very similar to his first seizure 03.08.2018.

Raffe 17.03.2005 - 14.08.2018

We received sad news that Raffe (B. Roquefort) had gone to the Rainbow Bridge. The recently found tumour in his mouth could not be cured and so it was time to let him go. Our deepest sympathy to Arja and Toni who gave Raffe a good home and a happy life.

Tarmo (Do Day's Neville): Epilepsy

At night 3.8. Tarmo had a typical severe epileptic seizure, the first of his life. We visited the veterinarian 8.8. and Tarmo was thoroughly examined, also blood and urine samples were taken to exclude other diseases causing seizures. Nothing was however found and the diagnose was epilepsy.

After a discussion with the vet we decided to follow Tarmo's situation to see how often and how bad seizures he gets in the future. If necessary a medication will be started.

Epilepsy is the most common neurological disorder in dogs causing sudden, uncontrolled and recurring seizures. Type and frequency of the seizure pattern can vary. Very long or frequent seizures are life- threatening and the dog needs immediate help. Epilepsy cannot be cured but medication may help. The medication is lifelong and has side effects. Dogs with a poor response to the treatment are euthanized. Epilepsy is a hereditary disease.

We are sad because of Tarmo. He is a nice and friendly boy but his life is just full of difficulties and severe health problems.

Tarmo's breeders and the breeding committee of LRC have been informed.
